June 16, 2011 Total Lunar Eclipse

There are two total lunar eclipses visible in the Philippines this year. The first one will occur on the morning of June 16, 2011 and the other one will happen on the evening of Dec. 10, 2011.

According to Astronomical League of the Philippines (ALP), June 16 total lunar eclipse is special because the moon will pass the center of the Earth’s shadow giving us an hour and 40 minutes of totality.

For details, kindly check the timetable at ALP website.  To know the celestial sky for the month of June, visit PAS and PAGASA website.

I look forward to see all the total lunar eclipses!

Clear Skies everyone and happy observing! 🙂

To the moon! 🙂
