February 2011 Philippine Celestial Sky

Despite the La Niña phenomenon in the Philippines, Filipino astronomers will not lose hope to experience again clear night skies.

Below are list of celestial views for the month of February:

Evening planet: Jupiter (visible at dusk)

Morning planets: Saturn, Venus, Mercury (visible after midnight until dawn)

Feb. 7: Jupiter and Crescent Moon (click to see image); The moon is 7 degrees from Jupiter.

Feb. 11: First Quarter Moon and Pleiades (click to see image); The moon is 6 degrees from the Pleiades cluster.

Feb 18: Full Moon

Feb. 22: Saturn and Moon (click to see image); The moon is 8 degrees from Saturn.

Feb. 25: Last Quarter Moon

Feb 28: Venus and Crescent Moon (click to see image)
