Solar Eclipse 2009

On Wednesday, 22 July 2009, a total solar eclipse will occur within a narrow path. The path of the Moon’s umbral shadow will begin in India and crosses through Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Central China, the Pacific Ocean, Ryukyu Islands, Marshall Islands and Kiribati.

In the Philippines, however, the event will be observed as a partial solar eclipse, which will also include most of eastern Asia, Indonesia, and the Pacific Ocean.

The University of the Philippines Astronomical Society will send an expedition team to Shanghai, China to observe and witness the total solar eclipse  on July 22, 2009.  For more information and updates about the group and the solar eclipse, visit
