The Naked Eye Comet: Comet 17/P Holmes

Equipment used: 6″ NERT
Olympus FE-250 8.0 Megapixel Digicam

I had a hard time imaging this comet. Ang hirap ng walang camera adapter. Anyway, it was worth it.

Comet Holmes, the first comet that I saw, is not like other comets that we are familiar with which have colorful and long tails. It looks like a star when seen with the unaided eye, and a fuzzy concentric cloud in binoculars and telescopes. In addition, its sudden outburst, changing its magnitude from 17 to 2.5 for one day, surprised many astronomers. That is very unusual for a comet. No one knows how long the comet will retain its brightness. So guys (lalo na mga Astropips)… don’t miss this opportunity! Look out for the comet in the constellation Perseus!
